Dear veterans, colleagues, friends, citizens of countries joined by the memory of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945!

On 9 May, the 80th anniversary of the Victory over fascism – a turning point in the history of mankind – is celebrated around the world. This date reminds us not only of the courage and resilience of peoples, but also of the price paid for peace and freedom. The Great Patriotic War, as part of the World War II, was a great challenge, which our ancestors overcame thanks to the concerted efforts of the peoples of different countries and nationalities, the unity of the front and the rear, the heroism of soldiers and civilians.

We express our deep gratitude towards veterans, whose eternal feats are seen as a symbol of the endurance of the human spirit. We bow our heads in memory of those who gave their lives to free the world from Nazism. Their heroism reminds us of the fragility of the world and teaches us to preserve life on Earth.

Today international relations are more important than ever. Bringing together scientists from more than 30 countries, our Institute aims at building trust through science. It is wisdom, mutual understanding and respect that help prevent conflicts and preserve human values and dignity.

Let this special day and this memory symbolise our determination to preserve peace and strengthen cooperation between peoples for a brighter future!
