Measurement of deuteron analyzing powers Ay, Ayy and Axx in dp-elastic scattering at the Nuclotron

Publications, 12 March 2024

The journal Nuclear Physics published an article by a group of authors (Vladimir Ladygin et al.) from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, the National Institute for Research and Development in Electrical Engineering (Romania), the University of Žilina (Slovakia) and the Research Center RIKEN (Japan) on the measurement of the deuteron analyzing powers Ay, Ayy and Axx in dp-elastic scattering at the Nuclotron.

The article presents the results of the vector Ay and tensor Ayy and Axx analyzing powers in deuteron-proton elastic scattering at large transverse momenta. These data were obtained at the internal target of the JINR Nuclotron in the energy range 400–1800 MeV using a beam of polarized deuterons from a new source of polarized ions. New data on deuteron analyzing powers over a wide energy range demonstrate the sensitivity of the spin structure of isoscalar nucleon-nucleon correlations at short distances.
