Registration opens for second archival school at JINR

From 19 to 25 July 2026, the second archival school, “Archival Impulse–2026: the science of collaborative archiving”, will take place at the historical archive of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The project is aimed at training young specialists to manage historical archives in scientific centres. The event is organized by JINR and the Higher School of Economics. The school is dedicated to the 70th JINR anniversary.

The applications can be submitted until 30 June via the link. Interested students and postgraduates of any speciality are invited to participate. Experience of working with archives and historical heritage is important, but will not play a decisive role in application selection.

The programme includes:

  • theory of archival science,
  • talks about the Atomic Age archive, private photo archives, and counter-archives,
  • discussions about public archival science,
  • conversations with veterans of the Institute,
  • work with the archives of JINR laboratories and founding fathers,
  • preparation of the archive film festival.

The school’s participants will listen lectures by researchers from JINR, the Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Moscow State University, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the European University at Saint Petersburg, visit the sites of the Joint Institute, and dive into working with historical documents.
