The 124th Session of the JINR Scientific Council

On 20 – 21 September 2018, the 124th Session of the JINR Scientific Council will be held in the International Conference Hall. The Session of the Scientific Council which renewed its membership will be opened by the report by JINR Director Academician V.A. Matveev devoted to the JINR’s major events.

Participants of the Session will hear the reports on the progress of implementation of the Seven-year plan for the development of JINR for 2017–2023 (R. Lednický, V.D. Kekelidze, M.G. Itkis, B.Yu. Sharkov, B.N. Gikal, S.Z. Pakuliak). Moreover, recommendations of the JINR Programme Advisory Committees taken at the meetings in June 2018 will be considered (I. Tserruya, M. Lewitowicz, D.L. Nagy).

The first day of the Session will be concluded by the closed session at which Directors of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems and the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions will be elected, and appointment of Deputy Directors of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics and the Laboratory of Information Technologies will be endorsed.

The second day of the Session will be opened by reports by young scientists recommended by the PAC. The following reports will be delivered: “How robust is a third family of compact stars against pasta phase effects?” by A.S. Ayriyan, “Fusion-fission and quasi-fission in the near-barrier reaction of 32S+197Au” by I.M. Harca and “Analysis of the working ability of a planar graphene tunnel field-effect transistor in the presence of edge vacancies” by A.A. Glebov.

After the scientific reports, award of the Pontecorvo Prize to Professors G. Fogli and E. Lisi will be held. Jury’s recommendations on the award of the Dzhelepov Prize will be announced. Presentation of diplomas to the winners of JINR annual prizes for best papers in the fields of scientific research, instruments and methods, and applied research will be held.

The Session will be traditionally concluded by the general discussion and adoption of the Resolution of the Scientific Council.
