Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of India to Russia visited JINR

On 16 October, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Russian Federation, H. E. Pavan Kapoor and JINR Director RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov met to discuss aspects of strengthening JINR-India cooperation.

“10 scientists from India are already working at JINR, and we hope that such a solid foundation will help to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of India to Russia, H. E. Pavan Kapoor, noted.

“This visit is very important for us, because the Institute strives to promote its mission not only as an international research organization, but also as an integrating force for many countries that can unite to jointly conduct fundamental and applied research,” JINR Director RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov said, addressing the Embassy representatives. “We hope that your visit will give an additional impetus to the development of our cooperation.”

Second Secretary of the Embassy Bharat Yadav also represented the Embassy of India at the meeting at the JINR Directorate. On behalf of JINR, Vice-Director Latchesar Kostov, Chief Scientific Secretary Sergey Nedelko, Head of the International Cooperation Department Otilia Ana Culicov participated in the discussion.

During his visit to the Joint Institute, H. E. Pavan Kapoor together with Grigory Trubnikov welcomed the participants of the India-JINR Forum: Frontiers of Basic and Applied Research, which is taking place those days. About 150 scientists from JINR and research centres of India took part in the event.

In addition, the Ambassador of India got acquainted with the JINR scientific infrastructure as part of the visit programme. H. E. Pavan Kapoor went on a tour to the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, where he was introduced to the implementation of the NICA Megascience Project.
