JINR won competition of Minobrnauki of RF

On 28 July 2020, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation announced the winners of a competition for grants in a form of subsidies for conducting large-scale scientific projects on priority fields of the scientific and technological development.

The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research with the project “Superheavy nuclei and atoms: limits of nuclear mass and boundaries of the Periodic Table” is one of the winners of the competition. The Scientific Leader of the project is Academician Yu. Ts. Oganessian, Scientific Leader of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions JINR; the Project Manager is A. V. Karpov, FLNR Scientific Secretary.

The Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences also has won the competition with the project “Neutrino and particle astrophysics” in which our Institute takes part.

According to the results of the competition, 41 winners were selected out of 367 submitted applications. The maximum amount of the grant which will be funded up to 2023 is 300 million rubles.

The competition is held to implement the sub-programme “Fundamental scientific research for long-term development and ensuring the competitiveness of society and the state” of the state programme of the Russian Federation “Scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation”.

According to Minobrnauki of the Russian Federation, the competition accepts applications for large-scale scientific projects aimed to conduct fundamental scientific research in such fields as mathematical sciences, computer and information sciences, physical sciences and astronomy, chemical and matter sciences, Earth and environmental sciences, biological sciences, power engineering, mechanics and mechanical engineering, medical sciences, agricultural sciences, social sciences and Humanities.

When considering applications submitted for the competition, the jury evaluates reputation of participants of a project in the international scientific community, qualification of members of a team, the quality of a project and the result expected after the implementation of it, cooperation with leading foreign scientific organizations during the implementation of a project, the importance of a study for priorities indicated by the RF scientific and technological development strategy.
