Language courses
The JINR University Centre organizes language courses at the Institute for employees in order to improve their language skills. Studied languages: English and Russian as a foreign language (as part of the Russian Speaking Club).
The main objectives of language courses:
- improve the level of English and Russian as a foreign language;
- hone the oral communication skills for interaction with partners from abroad;
- develop listening comprehension skills.
The Russian Speaking Club started its work in November 2024. Classes take place as follows: two meetings are devoted to training, one meeting is held in the format of a speaking club to reinforce of the studied material. Meetings take place from September to 15 June, twice a week for 90 minutes. The participants receive interactive exercises, an additional list of literature, film adaptations of Russian and other classical literature, as well as software in which they can practice the Russian language. Topics related to holidays in Russia include both theory and practice; to make the classes more interesting and enjoyable, the course includes modelling real-life situations, role-playing games, using walking simulators and board games to practice vocabulary and grammar.
English language classes take place from October to 15 June in one group, and from mid-September to 15 June in two groups.
English and Russian training is provided at the request of the departments due to work-related needs. The decision to admit the employees to classes during working hours is made by the laboratory directorate and is confirmed by a letter of guarantee sent to the UC. Groups are formed based on the results of employee testing from the list provided by the laboratory or department. The number of places in each group is limited (no more than 12 people). The number of groups is limited as well. A letter of guarantee is not only a confirmation of financial obligations to pay for classes, but the permission of the department’s management to attend courses during business hours. Employee training
