The International Student Practices in the JINR Fields of Research are three-week programmes that perform the important function of attracting talented youth to the Institute, as well as disseminating information about opportunities for education and scientific paper preparation at JINR.
The internships are held since 2004 on the initiative of UC, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, MEPHI University, Polish universities, and the Czech Technical University (ČVUT) for senior students from the JINR Member States, as well as from countries that signed government-level agreements with JINR. In 2007, the programme became stage-based.
The ISP goal is to provide interested students with the opportunity to:
- obtain as full information as possible about the JINR research programme;
- complete a small educational research project at the Institute’s Main Facilities under specialists’ supervision;
- get acquainted with the Institute’s personnel and, possibly, choose a potential scientific supervisor in case of a longer visit for diploma preparaton;
- learn about the new problems of contemporary physics from leading scientists’ lectures;
- get introduced to Russian culture.
The programme largely focuses on working on educational research projects under the supervision of the specialists of the JINR laboratories. Project descriptions and the list of available scientific areas to choose from are posted in advance. Undergraduates who finished their junior year, seniors, as well as master’s and first-year postgraduate students can apply.
Participation requires an organizational fee covering expenses related to accommodation, meals, the cultural programme, etc. As a rule, students from the JINR Member States receive special grants to pay the organizational fee; it is therefore necessary to preliminarily contact your country’s representative.
Application submission, participation requirements, the list of educational research projects, and the contacts of national representatives are available on the UC International Student Practice page.
