Аннотация:

CHIPS is a 5kt prototype detector, now deployed in the NuMI neutrino beam. Its goal is to demonstrate the possibility of radically cheaper neutrino detectors and all that stems from that ability regarding precision measurement of neutrino oscillation parameters. Design, construction and deployment of the CHIPS detector will be discussed and the plan for future work will be outlined.
