  1. The Licensing and Intellectual Property Department of JINR announces that on 18 February 2020, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research received a patent for the invention “Induction synchrotron magnetic system with magnetic field constant in time”. The author of the work is Gennady V. Dolbilov.

JINR staff congratulates the author on receiving the patent for his invention!

    More details about the invention

The invention relates to acceleration engineering and can be used in development of inductive cyclic accelerators with practically constant radius of orbit and constant in time magnetic field. Induction, non-resonant method of acceleration solves the problem of synchronization in a wide range of speeds of accelerated particles and accelerating electric field by changing the repetition frequency of induction pulses. The magnetic system of induction synchrotron has no fundamental limitations on the lower energy threshold of accelerated particles. Induction synchrotron magnetic system consists of a set of magnetic dipoles and focusing lenses, which are located on arc-shaped sections of the accelerator housing, and windings of dipoles and lenses are respectively connected to power generators, each dipole contains two components with direct and reverse polarity of magnetic field, thus forming a bipolar magnetic system, and each focusing lens comprises two heteropolar lenses with flat magnetic poles.
EFFECT: technical result is expansion of the operating range of accelerated energies and simple process of adjustment and start of accelerator.

  2. The Licensing and Intellectual Property Department of JINR announces that on 18 February 2020, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research received a patent for the invention “Method of forming equilibrium trajectories of particles in a cyclic accelerator with a constant radius of an orbit”. The author of the work is Gennady V. Dolbilov.

JINR staff congratulates the author on receiving the patent for his invention!

    More details about the invention

The invention relates to acceleration engineering and can be used in the development of cyclic accelerators with practically constant radius of the orbit, for example, induction synchrotrons with constant in time magnetic field. Method of formation of equilibrium trajectories of particles in a cyclic accelerator with a constant radius of an orbit consists in that for the formation of orbits of particles and preservation of radius of an orbit of particles constant at their acceleration, particles are reflected by fields of magnetic dipoles and form rigid focusing of particles. Reflections of particles are carried out by means of fields of heteropolar dipoles, and for the formation of rigid focusing of particles fields of lenses with flat magnetic poles are used. To implement this method of forming equilibrium trajectories, standard magnetic dipoles, warm or superconducting, which are widely used in particle accelerators, can be used. It is also possible to use permanent magnets (for example, NdFeB or CmCo).
EFFECT: technical result is the increase of operating energy range.
