Subsequent to the resolution № 426-р of 26 February 2020 of the Government of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, was appointed Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Russian Federation in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

Previously, these duties were performed by former RF Minister of Science and Higher Education Mikhail Kotyukov.

The Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the Institute Member States is the supreme body of the Institute. Each member of the Institute has one representative in the Committee of Plenipotentiaries. Committee sessions are held every year in March and November.
