Telescope for Cherenkov light measurements in EAS

News, 29 July 2016

A telescope for Cherenkov light measurements in Extensive Air Showers (EAS) produced by ultra high energy cosmic particles was made in Dubna in the frames of the TAIGA international experiment. Currently, the telescope is being transported in a railway container to the experimental site in the Tunka valley, through which flows the river Irkut, which flows into Baikal. This place was not chosen by chance – there are more than 300 sunny days and cloudless nights and that fact is significant for the study of cosmic rays by measurement of Cherenkov radiation of EAS.
