A memorandum of understanding was signed between JINR and the Latin American Centre for Physics. The document is aimed at expanding the participation of Latin American and Caribbean countries in JINR’s activities and leveraging the Institute’s research potential to advance science and technology in the CLAF Member States.

Members of the Programme Advisory Committee for Nuclear Physics discussed an experiment to synthesise element 119 at the Superheavy Element Factory, the development of a future neutron source for FLNP, the modernisation of the EG-5 Accelerator, neutrino physics studies, and the MLIT scientific programme.

Dubna Resort Hotel hosted the 15th Alushta Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists of JINR. This year’s event brought together 51 participants representing seven countries: Bolivia, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Africa, and Uzbekistan.

The event at the Laboratory of Information Technologies marks the 70th JINR anniversary and the laboratory’s 60th jubilee. The conference has brought together more than 300 specialists. Special interest is drawn to talks related to the NICA Megascience Project.

From 24 May to 23 June, young scientists and specialists from the Commonwealth of Independent States attended lectures and received consultations from leading JINR scientists, toured the Institute’s laboratories, visited the Dubna Special Economic Zone, the city’s innovative enterprises, and Dubna State University.

Colleagues, friends, and family of the first University Centre Director Svetlana Ivanova celebrated her legacy during an anniversary seminar. The event’s programme included the presentation of a book and a documentary film, and the first UC auditorium was ceremoniously named after the researcher.

Timed to coincide with the 70th JINR anniversary, the exhibition detailed the first years of the Institute’s history. Although the exhibition at the Mir Cultural Centre is closed, the Meridian of Interaction lecture series accompanying it continues.

Everyone interested is invited to share archival materials for a film festival organized by JINR and the Higher School of Economics. Contributions can include footage of work at the laboratories, everyday life in Dubna, trips, as well as family videos of JINR employees.

The event will take place from 19 to 25 July at the JINR Historical Archive. The school invites students and postgraduates interested in the research and preservation of documentary scientific heritage. Registration is available until 30 June via the link.

The discussion focused on discoveries at the intersection of disciplines. Grigory Trubnikov explained how scientific achievements are already changing human life, what research is underway at JINR, how researchers are trying to obtain elements 119 and 120, and what tasks the NICA Collider solves.

The JINR Telegram channel shared another archival photo of the Institute. Take a look at the participants of the second JINR Summer School for Young Scientists and Specialists on Lipnya Island. The photo was taken by Yuri Tumanov in June 1998.

The Strana Rosatom newspaper published an article about the development of the Baikal-GVD Neutrino Telescope. The material details how the underwater telescope works, why Lake Baikal became a unique platform for neutrino astronomy, and what discoveries the future HUNT Detector may bring.

This special gift was presented to Ilya Frank on his 70th birthday by colleagues from the Research Institute of Atomic Reactors. Today it is kept in his memorial office at FLNP at JINR. A new version of the souvenir was made for the ISINN-32 international conference.
