Аннотация:

Nuclei far from stability with a large difference between the number of protons and neutrons undergo decay modes, which do not appear close to stability. These decays include processes like emission of b-delayed charged particles or two-proton radioactivity. They offer us a window on nuclear structure far from stability.

In order to study exotic and rare decay channels we have developed at the University of Warsaw a special instrument – a Time Projection Chamber with optical readout (OTPC). From the very beginning, this development was done in collaboration with the Acculinna group at the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions. Originally, it was designed to study two-proton radioactivity (2p), but it proved to be an excellent tool for investigation of other decay channels accompanied by emission of charged particles. Among interesting results obtained with help of the OTPC, in addition to 2p spectroscopy, are the first observation of the b-3p decay mode in four nuclei, a study of 6He decay into the a + d continuum, and a study of low-energy protons emitted after beta decay of 27S.

In the talk, I will present a selection of experiments performed with help of the OTPC with some focus on the recent results and on-going projects.
