First laureates of OGANESSON Prize awarded

On 16 February, in Moscow, the first award ceremony of the OGANESSON Prize established by FLNR JINR Scientific Leader, RAS Academician Yuri Oganessian and the Joint Institute to support researchers and science popularisers took place.
Hamlet Khodzhibagiyan wins National Vyzov Prize

VBLHEP JINR Deputy Director for Scientific Work Hamlet Khodzhibagiyan has won the National Vyzov Prize. It was presented to the scientist for the development of magnetic systems based on high-temperature superconductors for charged particle accelerators and high-power energy storage devices.
Results of CP JINR session

On 10–11 November 2023, the session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Member States took place in Almaty. As a result of work, CP JINR approved the Seven-Year Plan for the Development of the Institute for 2024–2030 submitted by the Scientific Council and the JINR Finance Committee.
JINR-CHINA: NEW MILESTONE OF COOPERATION

The first meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee took place under the Protocol between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, the Ministry of Science and Technology of PRC, JINR, and CAS on strengthening cooperation. The parties agreed to hold consultations on the details of launching the first joint projects in the course of work and to pay special attention to the development of academic mobility.
Mexico and JINR signed Declaration of Intent

The document signed by the National Council for Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACYT) and the Joint Institute reflects plans of the parties to work together in the field of frontier, fundamental, and applied research.
Discovery of superheavy elements

In 2016 IUPAC and IUPAP assigned the priority of the discovery of elements 115 and 117 to the collaboration between JINR (Dubna, Russia), LLNL (USA) and ORNL (USA), as well as element 118 to the collaboration between JINR (Dubna, Russia) and LLNL (USA). The approved names were Moscovium (Mc), Tennessine (Ts), and Oganesson (Og). 10 new elements have been discovered at JINR over the past 60 years.
Baikal-GVD Project

Ceremonial launch of the facility was held on 13 March 2021.
The Baikal deep underwater neutrino telescope is a mega-science facility, a JINR's flagship project in neutrino physics. The first cluster of Baikal-GVD was named “Dubna”. Now Baikal-GVD consists of 8 enhanced clusters at the depth of 1300 m. It is the largest neutrino telescope in the Northern hemisphere.
Dubna Radioactive Ion Beams (DRIBs)

The accelerator developed in the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions was specifically designed to accelerate radioactive ions with an increased number of neutrons for production of neutron-rich isotopes, including superheavy elements.
IBR-2 NEUTRON SOURCE

The IBR-2 reactor is a high-flux long-pulse neutron source dedicated to fundamental and applied research in physics, chemistry, material science, biology, geology, environmental studies using a broad spectrum of methods including neutron scattering, neutron imaging, neutron activation analysis and high fluence irradiations. A user programme is being successfully implemented.

The Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex (MICC) is a basic facility of JINR. It provides a 24×7 implementation of a vast range of competitive research conducted at JINR at a global level. JINR collaborates with the world’s leading scientific and research centres both in the framework of its own research programmes and the priority research tasks carried out in collaboration with them.
