News, 15 July 2025
On 15 July 2025, at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, young JINR scientists and specialists, winners of the Social Mortgage competition and laureates of the Moscow Region Governor’s Prize, met with Andrey Vorobyov. The event took place on the territory of the NICA Accelerator Complex.
At the meeting, the participants discussed the development of comfortable infrastructure in Dubna: issues related to medical care for citizens, the transport accessibility of the science city, and many others. The young JINR specialists thanked the governor for Moscow Region’s efforts to support researchers and create comfortable working and living conditions in the science city for them.
“When Grigory Trubnikov talks about his team of academics and scientists, he places special emphasis on young specialists. To attract them, we need to make sure there are the right conditions for us to achieve significant practical results. It is important to make sure that those who create have a comfortable everyday life,” Andrey Vorobyov addressed the JINR representatives. “The Institute employs scientists from all over the country. We really hope that this unique project supported by the President of Russia will be implemented, make its scientific ideas a reality, and achieve practical results with your participation, and, of course, with our help”.
Over the past ten years, 89 people became holders of housing certificates in Dubna. This year, six young specialists from the Joint Institute won the competition.
“I came to the Institute for the first time in 2017 for a pre-graduate internship. I really liked it here, so after graduating from a university in Yekaterinburg in 2019, my husband and I moved to Moscow Region. In 2022, we already received a social mortgage for young scientists and purchased an apartment in Dubna,” a junior researcher at the Laboratory of Neutron Physics at JINR Maria Petrova said. “This is a huge help, since having your own place provides a certain level of confidence in the future. Such measures are a guarantee that young employees will stay here, working at their favourite job”.
The Governor’s Prize in the amount of 700 thousand roubles is awarded annually to young researchers for outstanding results in the priority areas of science, technology, and engineering development for Moscow Region. Since 2012, 190 people have become laureates of the prize; 21 of them are Dubna citizens.
“Big science is important, but so are the everyday issues. We are solving them with the governor’s team very effectively. In particular, the region has a wonderful social mortgage programme for young scientists. Of the 400 certificates issued, about 80 – a fifth of them – were given to employees of our Institute,” JINR Director, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov said. He thanked the regional government for its support to Moscow Region’s scientific community.
The meeting at VBLHEP at JINR was attended by young scientists and specialists from Murmansk, Stavropol, Tver, Yekaterinburg, Bryansk, Sverdlovsk Region, Udmurt Republic, Kazakhstan, and other regions.
