The event was organized at JINR, in a hybrid format, on 19–20 February. The SC members reviewed NICA’s progress, heavy element synthesis plans, neutrino research, and international cooperation. Awards were presented, and preparations were announced for the Institute’s 70th anniversary.

Collaboration participants continue constructing the deep underwater Baikal Neutrino Telescope. The first group arrived at the shore station of the neutrino observatory to deploy new clusters of the detector. During the 2026 expedition, it is planned to lay two bottom cables and commission two complete standard clusters.

The event was organized on 20 February, at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. The Prize was established in 2023 by RAS Academician Yuri Oganessian and the Joint Institute to support researchers and science popularisers.

Heads and specialists of Moscow oncological institutions visited JINR. A working meeting took place at the JINR Scientists’ Club, where the parties discussed the areas of potential cooperation, particularly joint studies at the Institute’s future radiochemistry centre, with the MSC-230 Medical Cyclotron as its key facility.

VBLHEP JINR employees created the Straw Tension Meter program. Track detectors based on thin-walled drift tubes (straws) can be used to determine the coordinates of particle flight in accelerator experiments and in some neutrino projects. Congratulations to our colleagues on receiving state registration!

The Laboratory of Information Technologies hosted a seminar in honour of the 95th anniversary of MLIT Chief Researcher Gennady Ososkov, one of the Institute’s employees of the most advanced age. This year, he celebrates another milestone – 65 years of work at JINR.

The monument commemorates the centenary of the birth of the scientist who stood at the origins of VBLHEP and shaped the laboratory’s scientific outlook for decades. The unveiling was attended by members of the 139th Scientific Council, the Institute’s Directorate, and Alexander Baldin’s colleagues and students.

From 24 February to 13 March, the VBLHEP branch of the Science and Technology Library invites visitors to the exhibition presenting books, article collections, and preprints reflecting the key stages of Alexander Baldin’s research, including publications about his life and career.

On 26 February, VBLHEP JINR will host the seminar dedicated to the outstanding researcher and organizer of scientific activities. Live broadcast is available via the link.

The Russian Science Foundation has announced the call for applications as part of the Presidential research projects programme in initiative research competition for young scientists.

The JINR Telegram Channel shared another word that scientists use. This week’s term is neutrino – one of the most amazing elementary particles, with no electric charge and almost no mass.
