Our warmest congratulations to Chief Researcher of the L.D.Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics, Chief Researcher of the Dubna International School for Modern Physics, BLTP JINR, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Starobinsky Aleksei Aleksandrovich on the occasion of being elected a Foreign Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, the leading US scientific organization.

Aleksei Aleksandrovich Starobinsky is the author of over 250 scientific papers in the field of theoretical astrophysics and cosmology. Together with A.Guth and A.D.Linde, he is the founder of the world-known inflation theory that predicts the existence of the exponential (de Sitter) expansion in early stages of the evolution of the Universe. In the frames of the inflation theory, A.A.Starobinsky was the first to calculate the spectrum of primary gravitational waves; he constructed the sequential model of the inflation scenario, conducted quantitatively correct calculations of the density perturbation spectrum, and developed the stochastic inflation theory and the model of post-inflation heating. At different time, he has been a member of editorial boards of various scientific journals, such as PEPAN, Letters, the Astronomical Journal, Letters, PEPAN, Physical Review D, Classical and Quantum Gravity, General Relativity and Gravitation, Gravitation and Cosmology, the International Journal of Modern Physics D, the Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics.
