On 18 May 2018, President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin held a working meeting with Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation D.A. Medvedev. In the course of the meeting, Prime Minister informed the president about the proposals on the composition of the Government.

D.A. Medvedev proposed to appoint O.Yu. Vasilieva, who had headed the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia since 19 August 2016, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation.

Moreover, Chairman of the RF Government offered to appoint M.M. Kotyukov, who had headed the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations since 24 October 2013, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

Deputy Prime Minister, T. A. Golikova will be responsible for the social sector of the Russian Government.

Due to the Executive Order “On the Structure of Federal Executive Bodies of Power” signed by President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin on 15 May 2018, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia will be split into the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
