Abstract:

The idea of the Multi-Wire gas-filled Electron Multiplier (MWEM) was proposed 20 years ago. Such type of detector was not widely implemented due to technical problems of its realisation. At this moment new technology widely used for the manufacture of MPGDs (GEM, THGEM, RETGEM, WELL, RPWELL, SRWELL, μ-RWELL, FTM). COMSOL simulation results are presented for 2 options of MWEM with single and double multiplication gaps. Proposed options will be tested at JINR and PNPI.
