Date and Time: Wednesday, 27 October 2021, at 11:00 AM

Venue: Online seminar on Webex, the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics

  1. Seminar topic: “Detector for beam beams tuning and luminosity control at the point of interaction on MPD NICA”

    Speaker: Litvinenko A.G.

    Abstract:

The design and operating conditions of the luminosity control detector at the MPD NICA point of interaction are discussed. The data on the pile up of signals are given. The contribution from scattering by the residual gas is analyzed. The tasks to be solved by this detector are discussed. Based on this, the requirements for the detector parameters are discussed (ToF resolution, efficiency and counting rate).

  2. Seminar topic: “ToF resolution of the scintillation counter of the luminosity detector at the interaction point MPD NICA”

    Speaker: Milnov G.D.

    Abstract:

The results of measuring the ToF resolution for sensitive elements (scintillation strip with silicon photomultipliers (SiPM)) of the luminosity control detector at the MPD NICA interaction point using cosmic muons are presented. The extent to which the obtained resolution meets the requirements of the detector operation is discussed.
