AYSS seminar in JINR Scientists’ Club

Seminars

On 13 October 2022, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists of JINR invites you to the next seminar that will be held in the hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6, Joliot-Curie street, left side).

Ilhom Rahmonov, BLTP senior researcher, will deliver a report The Josephson effect: research, applications, and prospects. The Josephson effect is one of the most interesting effects in condensed matter physics, which involves the flow of superconducting current through the weak connection of two superconductors with a layer of a non-superconducting barrier, which are called Josephson junctions. The most prominent examples of applications of this effect are voltage standard and sensitive magnetic field meters based on the Josephson effect. Various qubits consisting of Josephson junctions for quantum computers are being studied quite extensively. Moreover, the ideas of using hybrid Josephson junctions consisting of superconductors and magnetic materials in the problems of spintronics are being investigated in the scientific community. The report will outline the physical basis of the Josephson effect, i.e. in which structures and under what conditions this effect is observed. Ilhom Rahmonov will report on the methods for studying the electromagnetic properties of Josephson transitions using simple examples. Modern research directions in this field and prospects for their application will be discussed.

There will be a small coffee break at 4:00 PM, which precedes the seminar. The report will start at 4:15 PM.

If you are going to join the event of 13 October, please take part in the survey via the link not later than 4:00 PM 12 October.
