Abstract:

The paper presents the results of studies on improving the radiation resistance of detectors based on organic plastic scintillators for existing and new experimental setups for high-energy particle physics. The research was carried out at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) during 2012 – 2021. Samples of scintillators of different types were irradiated with radioactive sources of gamma particles and neutrons to high levels of absorbed doses with different dose rates. Methods for increasing radiation resistance have been improved over the course of ten years, taking into account the emergence of new compact photodetectors capable of registering individual light quanta.
