Abstract:

After discussing the basics of Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) and related superfield approach to BRST formalism, we apply the theoretical strength of the superfield formalism in the context of notoph gauge theory which was invented at BLTP, JINR, Dubna. We derive the celebrated Curci-Ferrari (CF)-type restrictions which are responsible for (i) the absolute anticommutativity of the off-shell nilpotent (anti-) BRST symmetry transformations, and (ii) the existence of the coupled (but equivalent) (anti-)BRST invariant Lagrangian densities in arbitrary spacetime dimension. The physical implications are discussed in the context of the BRST approach to the four (3 + 1)-dimensional (4D) notoph gauge theory and future prospective of our work is pointed out in the context of higher p-form (p = 3, 4,…) gauge theories.
