Seminar on neutrino physics and astrophysics

On Monday, 4 April 2016, at 3.00 pm in the Conference Hall of DLNP a seminar “Radiative Emission of Neutrino Pair in atom (RENP) and neutrino physics” will be held.

Speaker: Dinh Nguyen Dinh (Institute of Physics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology)

Abstract:

We are going to introduce a hypothetical process of collective de-excitation of atom in a metastable level into emission mode of a single photon and a pair of neutrinos, called Radiative Emission of Neutrino Pair (RENP). It is shown to be sensitive to neutrino absolute mass scale, to the neutrino mass hierarchy and to the nature (Dirac or Majorana) of massive neutrinos. The process can also be used to test the hypothesis of existence of light sterile neutrinos with masses at eV scale mixing with SM neutrinos as hints from some neutrino oscillation experiments. In this talk, we will discuss how RENP can be used to determine neutrino mass and mixing observables; and perform analysis of the RENP phenomenon within “3+1” scheme with one sterile neutrino.
