Abstract:

New challenges in International Scientific Big Data Eco Systems over the last 5 years have been putting great pressure on the established industrial and Open Source storage software providers to offer solutions coping with those requirements. This report will elaborate on some of those issues and on how dCache.org is addressing them. This will include, but is not limited to, topics like data federation, high availability data services, sync’n share access to mass data and the problem of offering user selectable quality of service class in storage. Moreover, this report will briefly elaborate on how those topics are embedded in the current European Horizon 2020 Funding initiatives.
