Speaker: D. Kostunin
Abstract:
Ultra-high energy cosmic-rays and neutrinos produce secondary particle cascades in atmosphere and other natural media (water, ice, etc) and thus can be detected by large-scale ground or in-ice/underwater setups. Since the fluxes of these cosmic messengers are falling steeply with the energy, it is necessary to have full duty-cycle detector with full-sky coverage and effective areas and volumes of thousands of square kilometers and gigatons, respectively. Relatively new technique exploiting MHz radio antennas installed on/under the ground allows one to achieve such large areas and volumes. In this talk I will give an introduction to the radio technique and present an overview of the latest achievements of modern radio instruments focused on this topic.
