Abstract:

Applications of effective field theory methods to general relativity and modified theories of gravity are overviewed. The use of an effective theory to describe the gravitational radiation of binary systems is presented [Eur.Phys.J. C78 (2018) 205].
Within the framework of modified gravity, effective theories are discussed for scalar-tensor theories of the Fab Four class, capable to screen the cosmological constant. It is demonstrated that the screening properties are stable with respect to quantum corrections [Eur.Phys.J. C77 (2017) 702]. At the same time, there are indications that scalar-tensor models of this class are more pathological in the effective theory mode [Eur.Phys.J. C78 (2018) 991].
