Abstract:

We briefly discuss the aspects of higher spin problem related to Lagrangian formulation of the free and interacting higher spin fields in Minkowski and ant-de Sitter space-times. One of the generic methods to derive the higher spin field Lagrangian formulation is canonical BRST or BRST-BFV construction which was firstly derived for canonical quantization of the gauge theories and then was applied to higher spin problem. We describe a general scheme of the BRST-BFV construction in higher spin field theory and discuss of some concrete results. The application of this construction for deriving the Lagrangian formulations for the fields corresponding to representations with infinite integer and half-integer spins will be considered in more detail.
