Alexey Rozanov honoured with Order of Alexander Nevsky

At a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) on 25 November, RAS President Gennady Krasnikov presented the Order of Alexander Nevsky to Academician, Head of the LRB JINR Astrobiology Sector Alexey Rozanov for great achievements in science and many years of distinguished work. The award ceremony was held in accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 844, dated 17 November 2025.

Doctor of Geology and Mineralogy Alexey Rozanov is one the founders of bacterial palaeontology. Some of his research results are reflected in reference books on this field of study around the world. He began working at the Palaeontological Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1977 and served as its director from 1992 to 2011. Today, the researcher is the head of the RAS Paleontological Institute Invertebrate Laboratory, along with the Paleobotany and Ancient Organism Laboratory, and is a RAS Advisor and an Advisor to the Director General of the Karpinsky All-Russian Geological Research Institute.
