On 3 December 2025, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6 Joliot-Curie St, left side).

An FLNR researcher Aniruddha Dey will deliver a presentation titled “Are you a philosopher or a scientist? Your call”.

A scientist uses the scientific method to study the natural world through observation and experimentation, while a philosopher uses reason and logic to explore abstract concepts like truth, meaning, and ethics. However, both philosophers and scientists seek to understand the world through critical thinking, logical reasoning, and commitment to truth. The key difference lies in the fact that to a scientist, doubt is an adversary; and to a philosopher, doubt is an ally. The speaker will discuss the choice between the two approaches.
