AYSS seminar at JINR Scientists’ Club
Seminars
On 10 December 2025, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6 Joliot-Curie St, left side).
A senior researcher at Serbsky State Scientific Centre for Social and Forensic Psychiatry Victor Kohan will deliver a presentation titled “Nootropic effect of moderate doses of ionising radiation, from phenomenon to mechanism”.
It is known that large doses of ionising radiation are extremely dangerous for the body. But what if moderate doses can have a positive effect on the integrative functions of the brain? This lecture is devoted to an amasing phenomenon, the stimulating effect of moderate doses (< 2 Sieverts) of ionising radiation on the functions of the central nervous system. The results of a number of studies that revealed the nootropic effect of ionising radiation, primarily of a corpuscular nature, will be presented to the audience. Possible molecular and biochemical mechanisms underlying this phenomenon will also be considered.
