AYSS seminar in JINR Scientists’ Club

Seminars

On 22 November 2023, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists of JINR invites you to the next seminar that will take place in the hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6, Joliot-Curie street, left side).

Viktoriya Dik (DLNP) will make a report “Immersion in multimessenger astronomy with the Baikal-GVD telescope”. This talk will deal with the Baikal-GVD Telescope and its contribution to the multimessenger astronomy programme. The speaker will explain how the telescope located in the unique natural environment of Lake Baikal can help identify the sources of high-energy astrophysical phenomena and provide a more comprehensive understanding of the most energetic processes in the Universe.

Baikal-GVD, the largest neutrino telescope in the Northern Hemisphere, registers astrophysical neutrinos — mysterious particles capable of travelling vast cosmic distances without interaction. The combined analysis of observations of world experiments that register cosmic radiation, gamma radiation, gravitational signals, and neutrinos allows astrophysicists to obtain more information about astrophysical events such as gamma-ray bursts, neutron star mergers, etc.

There will be a small coffee break at 4:00 PM, which precedes the seminar. The report will start at 4:15 PM.

If you are going to join the event of 22 November, please take part in the survey via the link not later than 4:00 PM 21 November.
