Celebrating anniversary: New Year’s greeting of JINR Director

Organization, 30 December 2025

Dear friends, dear colleagues!

As the holidays approach, and the year draws to a close, we look back at the path we have travelled and proudly remember the great events that brought us together.

The year 2025 was a time of important achievements for JINR. With the injection of the first beam into the collider, the NICA Accelerator Complex entered a new stage of preparation for full-scale experiments. At the Superheavy Element Factory, studies are underway to synthesise elements 119 and 120 of the Mendeleev’s Periodic Table. Baikal-GVD, the largest neutrino telescope in the Northern Hemisphere, became one of the world’s leading facilities in terms of particle detection accuracy. After a three-year shutdown, the unique IBR-2M Fast Neutron Pulsed Reactor resumed operation, which opened up new opportunities for researchers. After an upgrade, the peak performance of the Govorun Supercomputer increased by more than a third, reaching 2.2 petaflops.

Today, JINR is a rapidly developing organism. Our strength lies in a close-knit scientific community and the connection of generations, with the wisdom of the Institute’s experienced scientists combined with the energy and determination of young researchers coming to Dubna from dozens of countries around the world. We remain true to our motto, “Science brings nations together”, which will hold special significance next year.

On behalf of the Directorate of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, I cordially congratulate you on the upcoming New Year and Christmas!

We are celebrating JINR’s anniversary in 2026. Seven decades of outstanding discoveries, bold ideas, and international cooperation make up our joint history, which we are rightfully proud of. Not only will this anniversary be a reason for celebration, but it will also serve as a powerful impetus for the implementation of new ambitious plans.

I sincerely thank each of you – scientists, engineers, specialists, and employees of all departments – for your daily work, enthusiasm, and dedication to our common goal. It is your professionalism and commitment that allow the Institute to move forward confidently.

May you spend these holidays with family and friends, with your homes full of warmth, joy, and mutual understanding. I wish you and your loved ones good health, well-being, and peace of mind.

May the anniversary year bring JINR new discoveries, and may it bring each of us happiness and inspiration!

JINR Director, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov
