On 1 September, JINR Director, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov took part in celebrations marking the start of the academic year at at Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU).

At the first-year convocation, MSU Honorary Professor Grigory Trubnikov congratulated the students, teachers, and university administration on Knowledge Day, expressing special wishes to the first-year students. “Upon entering the universe called MSU today, you become a forever part of the large family of Moscow State University,” JINR Director noted.

As an MSU graduate, Grigory Trubnikov gave a speech to the new generation of students. He advised young people taking their first steps in science to not be afraid to ask questions, support each other, and find their place in student life.

“Look for what suits you: the Moscow university provides fantastic opportunities to fulfil yourself not only in science but also in sports, creativity, and volunteering. Be proud of yourself: by being here, you have already proven a lot – to yourself, your parents, peers, and teachers. Please, waste no time. Study diligently, persistently, use every minute to grow. Try, search, make mistakes, try again, but most importantly, stay curious,” Grigory Trubnikov emphasised.

The first-year convocation at Lomonosov MSU was attended by University’s Rector Viktor Sadovnichiy, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture Lilia Gumerova, Chair of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education Sergey Kabyshev, and Moscow City Duma Chair Alexey Shaposhnikov.
