1 September marks a national holiday – the Independence Day, or Mustaqillik kuni – of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a Member State of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

Uzbekistan’s research institutes and universities are involved in studies as part 16 topics of the JINR Topical Plan. Scientists of the Republic of Uzbekistan participate in developing the Joint Institute’s large research infrastructure. Collaborative studies on relativistic ion physics, polarisation phenomena, and spin effects are underway at the NICA Accelerator Complex. Scientific centres of Uzbekistan engaged in applied research at NICA as well. Educational cooperation is actively developing.

From 22 to 24 April 2025, the Days of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent and Samarkand.
