From 22 to 28 September 2025, Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University (KamSU) hosted the All-Russian NAUKA 0+ Festival. The event was organized by KamSU and the Information Centre of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Kamchatka with the support of the JINR University Centre.

The festival is aimed at popularising science among schoolchildren and undergraduates, along with broadening their understanding of modern areas of research. The event gathered about 350 people, including schoolchildren, students, and teachers.

The programme included lectures, excursions to new KamSU laboratories, chemical and physical experiments, quizzes, master classes in robotics and pedagogy. Special attention was paid to familiarising participants with particle detection methods, research on Kamchatka ecosystems, and approaches to technologies’ application in various scientific fields.

The interactive programme of the event included quizzes on physics, chemistry, and radiobiology, along with discussions, among which the “breakfast with scientists” format attracted the most interest. During this meeting, the students could ask questions to the Head of the JINR Information Centre at KamSU Rodoslav Israpil concerning the principles of inclinometers’ work and the specifics of research activities in Kamchatka.

The NAUKA 0+ festival in Kamchatka was a significant event for the region’s scientific education. It provided the younger generation with an opportunity to get acquainted with modern research achievements.

Head of the JINR University Centre’s Social Communications Group Anastasia Sushchevich and JINR UC SCG event manager Anna Sumbaeva represented the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research at the festival.
