Ceremonial events dedicated to 40th anniversary of commissioning of IBR-2 Reactor

The Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics and JINR Museum of History of Science and Technology invites everyone interested to the opening of the “40 years with IBR-2” exhibition and the first report “How neutrons look into the past: a review of applied research at the IBR-2 Reactor in archeology” in a series of reports dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the commissioning of the IBR-2 Reactor.

The report, intended for a wide audience, discusses the field of applied research at the IBR-2 Reactor at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics – non-destructive neutron studies of archaeological objects. The results of neutron structural diagnostics of a wide range of objects are presented: from fragments of ceramic products to coins, from cast iron cauldrons to gold items. Neutrons make it possible to uncover the secrets of the ancient Black Sea colonies, Saka settlements in Kazakhstan, ancient Russian and Golden Horde cities…
