India – JINR: on a new phase of cooperation

The delegation of scientists from the Republic of India headed by professor V.Sahni visited JINR on 11 September.

The delegation was met by JINR Director A.N.Sissakian, Scientific Leader V.G. Kadyshevsky, Chief Scientific Secretary N.A. Russakovich, JINR UC Acting Director S.Z.Pakuliak, JINR staff members who participate in the joint projects with Indian scientists – M.V.Frontasieva, V.E.Aleinikov, S.A.Kulikov, M.V.Altaisky. The Indian delegation included Director of the Physics Group of the Bhabha Atomic Research Center of Bombay S.Kailas, Director of the Inter University Accelerator Centre (New Delhi) A.Roy, Adviser of the Department of Science and Technology B.Jian, scientific researcher of the Department R. Kumar.

The delegation participants listened with great attention to A.N.Sissakian who paid special attention in his speech to the JINR basic facilities, their upgrading and new projects, innovative and educational programmes. The guests visited LHEP, LNR, LIT, “Dubna” University.

The cooperation between JINR and India has its long history. It traditionally developed in the fields of mathematics and nuclear physics. The relations continue in new areas nowadays. 12 research centers and 9 Indian cities are involved in that cooperation. The vector of the cooperation is defined by the development of the intergovernmental relationship. The most remarkable events here were the recently held Year of Russia in India and the proceeding now Year of India in Russia.
