Saint István Day in Hungary

Organization, 20 August 2025

On 20 August, Hungary, an Associate Member of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, celebrates Saint István Day, its key state holiday. Hungary is one of the 11 founding states of JINR.

In 2025, Hungarian scientists are currently involved in studies on six topics of the JINR Topical Plan, including theoretical and neutron physics, particularly pulsed neutron source development and participation in external experiments. On 25 November 2024, at the University of Debrecen (Hungary), a trilateral agreement between JINR, the university, and the Institute of Nuclear Research (ATOMKI) was signed. The document is aimed at strengthening ties in personnel training, collaborative research, and organization of joint events.

The Directorate of the Institute congratulates Hungarian colleagues on Saint István Day and wishes them good health, happiness, prosperity, and new achievements for the benefit of science and progress!
