News, 20 July 2017

The 11th Joint Workshop «Modern Problems in Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics» starts on 24 July 2017 and will be held in Saint Petersburg for the first time. The world-famous palace, fountain and park ensemble of Peterhof located outside St. Petersburg will be the venue of the Joint Workshop.

The main organizers are the Asia Pacific Centre for Theoretical Physics (APCTP), the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics JINR (BLTP), the Petersburg Institute of Nuclear Physics NRC KI and the Saint Petersburg State University.

Asia Pacific Centre for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) is an international research institute for physical sciences. It is located in the Campus of the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), in Pohang, South Korea. The APCTP current member states: Australia, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Mongolia, India, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan. The Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics is a close-knit, multi-disciplinary research environment that hosts scientists working on challenging problems at the forefront of biophysics, condensed matter, quantum information, astrophysics, cosmology and particle physics. The institute also plays a key role in Korea by inviting international scholars, acting as a conduit for collaboration through focus workshops and training young scientists.

The main goal of the Workshop is to promote the close cooperation in the field of the nuclear and elementary particle physics between Asian countries and Russian leading scientific centers.

The first joint Workshop was organized by BLTP JINR and was held in Dubna on 18-23 June 2007. Further, these successful Workshops have been held annually in the countries participating in APCTP and JINR.

The venue of the Workshop is the “New Peterhof” Hotel which is situated near the Peter and Paul Cathedral in Peterhof
