Scientists from JINR, Armenia, and Bulgaria discussing theoretical physics at workshop in Yerevan
News, 22 October 2025
From 20 to 24 October, Yerevan Physics Institute is hosting the international “Symmetries: Bulgaria–Armenia–Dubna — SymBAD’25” workshop. The event is aimed at developing scientific cooperation and strengthening ties between Bulgaria, Armenia, and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
Participants are discussing modern fields of fundamental theoretical physics: supersymmetry, integrable systems, gravity, mathematical physics, and higher-spin theories. Scientists from the Joint Institute will present 12 of the 24 talks of the programme. Other speakers include representatives of Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory (AANL), St. Kliment Ohridski Sofia University, the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, and the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
At the opening of the event, welcome speeches were delivered by the workshop’s co-chairs: Head of the Department of Modern Mathematical Physics at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at JINR Sergey Krivonos and AANL Professor Ruben Manvelyan. They expressed gratitude to Vice-Director of the Joint Institute Latchesar Kostov for the initiative to hold the meeting, stressing that such events contribute to strengthening scientific ties and developing joint research.
A member of the JINR Scientific Council, Sofia University Professor Radoslav Rashkov gave the workshop’s first talk, discussing Neumann-Rosochatius integrable systems derived from string solutions.
The programme and the list of presentations are available on the event’s Indico page.
