Seminar topic: “Exotic analysis in the NOvA experiment”

Speaker: Andrey Sheshukov

Abstract:

The NOvA experiment was designed to study neutrino oscillations using a muon neutrino beam. However, large and segmented NOvA scintillation detectors allow additional physics searches, including atmospheric muon studies, search for magnetic monopoles, exotic signals in coincidence with detection of gravitational waves, as well as neutrino bursts from the core-collapse supernova. This seminar will present a review of these non-oscillation analyses performed in NOvA with a more detailed description of a supernova signal detection system. The prospects of such studies in the DUNE experiment will be discussed as well.
