Abstract:

The report presents the results of the author’s work on organizing the processing of the COMPASS experiment data using the experience of the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. A methodology for the organization of distributed data processing on the basis of the software infrastructure components created by the experiments at the LHC was proposed.

A software complex, which takes into account the peculiarities of acquiring, accounting, storing and processing data, as well as provides control over data processing within the COMPASS experiment on different types of computing resources, was implemented relying on the proposed methodology. Since 2017, the software complex has been the major platform for processing data of the COMPASS experiment.

The means of organizing distributed computing, which were applied in the development of the software complex, enabled the use of not only grid sites of the institutes participating in the collaboration, but also of high-performance computing systems, such as the Blue Waters and Frontera supercomputers.
