On 20 April 2017, a meeting of young scientists and specialists was held at the VBLHEP site for the first time in recent years. The meeting was attended by about 30 employees, as well as by JINR Assistant Director G.D. Shirkov, VBLHEP Scientific Secretary D.V. Peshekhonov, ex-chairmen of AYSS V. Chudoba and A.S. Ayriyan.

The meeting was opened by AYSS Chairman A.Yu. Verkheev, who announced the meeting agenda and spoke about the current AYSS status. During the discussion, G.D. Shirkov focused on issues of attracting young scientists to the Institute and confirmed the readiness of the JINR Directorate to assist with the implementation of initiatives of young employees. D.V. Peshekhonov expressed his hope for active participation of representatives of all laboratories, departments and services in the AYSS activities. He also proposed to discuss the idea of reformatting grants for young scientists and specialists of JINR.

In closing remarks, Alexander Verhees appealed for active involvement of participants in AYSS projects, as well as in drafting of the programme “Young employees of JINR” in the frames of the JINR Seven-year plan.
