Alushta-2017

Conferences, 13 June 2017

The 6th annual Conference-School of Young Scientists and Specialists of JINR «Alushta-2017» was started on 12 June 2017.

The Conference was organized by the JINR Association of Young Scientists and Specialists. The Conference will be held on 12 – 19 June in the Resort Hotel «Dubna» in Alushta, Crimea. Traditionally, the Conference is being held in the format of a scientific school.

Topics the 6th Conference Alushta-2017 will be devoted to the major scientific achievements of the Institute in the fields of nuclear physics. On 30 November 2016, an important event in the history of JINR took place – the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) approved the names of four new elements: nihonium (Nh), moscovium (Mc), tennessine (Ts), and oganesson (Og) appeared in the Mendeleev Periodic Table. The priority in the discovery of elements 115 117 and 118 is given to JINR scientists jointly with colleagues from foreign research centers. The decision of the IUPAC demonstrates the international recognition of the achievements of JINR’s staff of researchers and their outstanding contribution to the discovery of the “island of stability” of superheavy elements which is one of the most important achievements in modern nuclear physics.
