At concluding meeting of Board of Minobrnauki of Russia

On 22 December, a meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia was held chaired by Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov. The Board included representatives of the scientific community and executive authorities of the regions. JINR Director-elect Academician Grigory Trubnikov took part in the meeting of the Board via video conference.

Participants of the event considered preliminary results of the implementation of the national project “Science”, as well as a set of measures aimed at the employment of students and university graduates of 2020.

Opening the meeting, Valery Falkov highlighted that the issue of employment of university graduates this year was under special control of the Ministry. “At the end of the year, there are no systematic problems with the employment of 2020 graduates,” Valery Falkov noted.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Andrey Omelchuk presented a report on the implementation of the national project “Science”. The Deputy Minister noted that nowadays there is a network of 10 scientific and educational world-level centres (SEC). In addition, this year, the implementation of the federal project “Development of advanced infrastructure for conducting research and developments in the Russian Federation” was continued. In the framework of the project, a wide network of 72 engineering centres was formed from 2013 to 2020. The renewal of equipment at leading scientific organizations, the successful development of scientific and research fleet, as well as grant support of postgraduates was noted by the Deputy Minister as the key events of the year. Thus, the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) supported more than 1,500 projects on priority fields of scientific and technological development. “About 2,500 jobs have been already created, more than 45 % of which have been occupied by young staff members under 35,” Andrey Omelchuk noted.

In conclusion, Andrey Omelchuk informed that a new national project “Science and Universities” continues the work on all the mentioned measures. The project will be based on successful results obtained in the framework of the national projects “Science” and “Education”.
