Boris Sharkov was elected as a member of the Academia Europaea

On 5 September 2017, JINR Deputy Director Boris Sharkov was awarded with a diploma of Member of the Academia Europaea at the 29th Annual Plenary Conference of the Academia Europaea in Budapest.

A number of pre-conference workshops covering various fields of science were held before the Conference. On 3 September, Boris Sharkov gave a lecture «Acceleration of High-Brightness Heavy Ion Beams for Generation of Dense Plasmas» at the AE section on physics and engineering sciences which was open to the public.

Academia Europaea is a European, non-governmental association acting as an Academy. Members of the Academia Europaea are scientists and scholars who collectively aim to promote learning, education and research. Founded in 1988, with about 3470 members which includes leading experts from the physical sciences and technology, biological sciences and medicine, mathematics, the letters and humanities, social and cognitive sciences, economics and the law. The Academia Europaea issues a quarterly journal, the European Review, published by Cambridge.
