The JINR Weekly Newspaper tells readers about a festive concert dedicated to the 65th JINR anniversary that took place on 26 March.

Just like 65 years ago, on Foundation Day, we meet spring equinox, March sun, the cheerful bird chirp… Natural symmetry seems to take over the chaos of winter. After 65 years, the fact that the birth of the Institute is connected with the first month of spring seems symbolic.

Opening the jubilee meeting of the Institute’s employees in the Cultural Centre “Mir” with the participation of members of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries, JINR Director G. V. Trubnikov addressed them with the following words, “Dear friends, dear colleagues, members of the international Dubna family, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year and puts yet another milestone on the long path of studying fundamental properties of matter by humanity.

Today, the jubilee and our bright scientific achievements are a great occasion to thank our founders on behalf of the many-thousand international JINR team: we express gratitude to the JINR Member States, as well as to the Associate States and partners of the Institute for their comprehensive support and trust in the Institute.

JINR is a living organism meeting the challenges of the modern world. Following the mission, our Institute is meant to remain a modern dynamic factory of new knowledge that contributes to the search for answers to global questions, which the JINR Member States face and which determine the sustainable development of Mankind. Honorary certificates and thank-you notes from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation were awarded to JINR employees by JINR Director G. V. Trubnikov. Head of the Dubna City District S. A. Kulikov awarded honorary certificates of the city.

JINR Vice-Director S. N. Dmitriev was awarded the Honorary Badge “For services to Dubna”.

Following a long-standing tradition, G. V. Trubnikov presented diplomas to the winners of the competition for the annual JINR grants for school teachers and teachers of additional education of Dubna.

A famous band, State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble named after Igor Moiseev, came to congratulate JINR employees. The artistic director is People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Elena Shcherbakova. By a happy coincidence, the concert also became anniversary: 55 years ago, on 10 April 1966, the first concert of Igor Moiseev’s ensemble was held on the stage of the Cultural Centre “Mir”. This was the beginning of a close cultural and creative partnership between the Institute and the ensemble. The programme of the concert called “Dances of the peoples of the world” caused a storm of applauses.
