The National Institute of Nuclear Physics and Particle Physics (Institut National de Physique Nucléaire et de Physique des Particules – IN2P3) is a JINR long-standing partner. The year of the 50th anniversary of this scientific centre coincided with the year of the JINR 65th anniversary. In this regard, the organizations have taken a mutual part in a number of cross jubilee events.

Thus, on 10 December, the international symposium “From particles to the Universe” dedicated to the jubilee of this French leading scientific organization took place in the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. The aim of the event was to discuss the current state of research on nuclear physics and particle physics, as well as to promote the exchange of views of the future of these scientific domains.

JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov and JINR Scientific Leader Victor Matveev congratulated colleagues from IN2P3 on behalf of the international team of the Joint Institute at the symposium.

The long-standing history of JINR-IN2P3 cooperation dates back to 1972. It began shortly after the establishment of the French institute. Contacts between the organizations have been actively developing since then thus extending the cooperation fields. Today, JINR cooperates with 17 scientific laboratories and departments being structural parts of IN2P3. “JINR is proud of the many-year fruitful cooperation with IN2P3 and joint landmark achievements,” Grigory Trubnikov said. Victor Matveev in his turn highlighted that the long-standing ties with IN2P3 prove that “science really brings nations together to achieve bright scientific results.”

As the Institute’s leaders noted in their congratulatory speech, joint activities have always been targeted not only at enhancing joint research projects but also at contributing to the training and support of young specialists. “We will build bridges together between research and a new generation of scientists. Hopefully, this will inspire them to discover and explore the world for creating a better future,” JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov highlighted.
